The analysis is based on 1,138 respondents since 30 (2.6%) did not answer all of the items. The CCAS communication scale shows excellent reliability (α=.88). The items have item-total correlations that range from .71 to .84, and Cronbach's alpha drops if any of the items are removed. The CCAS decision-support scale consists of four (4) items where respondents are asked to rate their authority to make decisions and the support they receive when making decisions (a) in their area of expertise, (b) for matters affecting the entire nursing program, and (c) in their committees or teams. The analysis is based on 1,077 respondents since 91 (7.8%) did not respond to all items in the scale. The CCAS decision-support scale also shows excellent reliability (α=.90). The items have item-total correlations that range from .76 to .82, and Cronbach's alpha drops if any of the items are removed.
The Level of Conflict Scale.
The CCAS level of conflict scale consists of three (3) items where respondents are asked to rate the level of conflict (a) within the nursing program as a whole,(b) between the respondents and other faculty or staff, and (c) between students and faculty or staff. The analysis is based on 1,106 respondents since 62 (5.3%) failed to respond to all questions included in this scale.
The CCAS level of conflict scale reliability is weaker than that reported for the other scales (α=.62). Although Cronbach's alpha drops with the exclusion of any of the items, the item-total correlations are only in the range of .38 to .49. These modest correlations suggest that the three kinds of conflict are fairly independent of one another. .
CCAS teamwork scale:.
The Teamwork Scale.
The CCAS teamwork scale forms the heart of the CCAS by employing 11 items from the CCAS. The items included in this scale range from questions regarding how well the nursing program members work together as a team, to feeling heard (listened to and understood) by others, to questions about workload and level of trust from core leadership, faculty and staff.
