The Growth of Short's Brewing Company

The office consists of human resources, accounting, support staff, advertising, quality manager, etc. The pub consists of brewing, the front and back of the house, and the production facility is where the brewing and packaging takes place. A more detailed organizational structure can be viewed in Appendix A. .
Even though Joe and Leah are at the top of the company they still are very present in the business and are always helping out their employees. Joe helps pour drafts on busy nights with his bar staff while Leah helps the kitchen staff ("Short's", 2013). The way they both set up this business works very well in today's society. Employees want to feel like the management of the business they work for is invested in the job completely and in their employees. The management presence is not only important to employees; it also looks good to customers that come into the brewery. Customers are able to meet and mingle with the owners of a place they love to visit. Most of Shorts' customers want to know more about the brewery and hear its story and they definitely get that experience when they go there.
             Mission, Goals and Vision.
For a Michigan craft brewery, Short's want to achieve more than expected. Their mission is to "bring an appreciation of craft beer to Michigan with product education and creativity; this process [they] call Beer Liberation" (Gacioch, 2013). Short's definitely helped Michigan gain recognition as a great craft brewing state. They strive to "get a comfortable production volume, love what [they] do and enjoy life in northern Michigan" ("Short's", 2013). They also want to have northern Michigan's best beer while staying a Michigan only brewery. This means they make the beer with products from Michigan and only distribute in Michigan. They believe that their success is based on Joe and Leah Short's hard work, sacrifice and direction ("Short's", 2013).
