In Defense of Traditional Marriage Ryan T. Anderson

(Wikipedia, 2014).
Lincoln took a stand on an issue that was morally wrong which has led to civil rights of everyone being treated equally and protected no matter their race. "Being created equal doesn't entail or require redefining marriage" (Anderson, 2013). This is an unsound statement, because every law requires redefining based on trial and error and what's best for the people. History has shown that change is necessary and it will continue to happen with resistance, but the outcome will be decided by popularity and fighting for what's right. "Marriage is based on the biological fact that reproduction depends on a man and a woman, and on the social reality that children need a mother and a father. And as ample social science has shown, children tend to do best when reared by their mother and father" (Anderson, 2013). This statement has no valid backing whatsoever by stating a child will succeed when reared by their mother and father. A child's success is based on the opportunity of having an education. For example, President Barack Obama was only raised by his mother, and has been very successful without a father.
A child's success is also related to being able to provide for the child so they have proper means of food and medical care. This can be achieved from both parents, or more recently in today's society by a single parent. Are same sex couples different than heterosexual couples by not being able to provide for a child because of their sexual preference? Negative they are normal people that go to school and work like any adult does in society. They are very capable of providing care for a child and in some cases are more capable based on their success in life. For example Ellen Degeneres is very open with her sexual preference and could provide a better lifestyle for a child due to the fact of her being financially secure in the entertainment business.
