At eighteen, her male friends were unable to express their feelings. These observations allow the audience to discern that males feel that it is socially unacceptable for them to express their feelings. We teach girls to shrink themselves to cater to the fragile egos of males. Adichie advises that, "if you are the breadwinner in your relationship with a man, pretend that you are not especially in public otherwise you will emasculate him. " Her use of logos persuades the audience of her claim that men do not like to see themselves as delicate, therefore women reduce themselves to be less than men. Adichie claims that some men feel threatened by the idea of feminism. She thinks that because of how boys are brought up, their sense of self worth is diminished if they are not "naturally " in charge as men. Through both of these works it is shown that it is up to men to free the way for women to get where they want to get.

Emma Watson states that feminism has become an unpopular word. In, We Should All Be Feminists, Adichie finds that feminist is so heavy with negative baggage. During Emma Watson's speech she presents that our expressions as feminists are seen as too strong, too aggressive, isolating, anti men and unattractive. She also discussed the misconceptions of feminism and how it is often associated with "man-hating. " This allows the audience to understand the idea of feminism and the connotation associated with the word. Emma Watson voices, "the word feminist is not important but the ambition behind it is. " The importance of this issue should be based on the strong desire that women have to achieve equality and not the idea of women stripping men of all their power. The work force has previously been made up of a majority of men due to the need for heavy lifting because most jobs had required hard labor but as of today a man is just as likely as a woman to be intelligent, innovative, and creative.
