Bacon's Rebellion

"We identify the flag with almost everything we hold dear on earth, peace, security, liberty, our family, our friends, our home. But when we look at our flag and behold it emblazoned with all our rights we must remember that it is equally a symbol of our duties. Every glory that we associate with it is the result of duty done. " .
The American flag represents more than just symbolic freedom, equality, and strength. We as Americans take pride in red, white, and blue and live for our history. America has created its own history since its discovery with the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1492. Since then America has established Justice, a Constitution, and opportunity to its inhabitants. Throughout history there have been many significant turning points that have allowed our country to develop all of its characteristics that are still valid in our current time period. Three major events that have a great importance not only to history then but to our existing history today have established the America we know. These events began in early, middle, and late "being 1800s "history. Although it is a broad aspect, these three events have a major impact on three controversial topics. Bacon's Rebellion which began in 1676 and ended in 1677 is an early event that had a major effect on the creation of the second amendment. Following Bacon's Rebellion, in 1803 the case of Marbury vs. Madison established judicial review, which will allow us to discuss the controversial topic of interracial and same sex marriage. Lastly, in the late 1860s and early 1870s the 14th and 15th amendments were established. These two important amendments have a major role in citizenship and illegal immigration today. All three turning points "Bacons Rebellion, Judicial review, and the 14th and 15th amendments "have created a historical and current impact on America that has a great importance in the history we know today.
