Overpaid Profesional Athletes

There are much more jobs that contribute more to the society than a professional athlete starting with teachers who spend their time educating the future leaders or firemen who are on the field saving lives on a regular basis, and with the economy not being at its best on the moment, people feel like some of the money that athletes are earning should go to more important areas such as education or in the medical field. It makes more sense today to invest this money to help the community than giving it to entertainers, especially when seeing how these athletes are living. Without making a generality out of them, because there are a lot of athletes who are constantly giving back to the community with charity work, the general image of a professional athlete is a man living in a big house, driving luxury cars and wearing expansive clothes and jewelry. Some of them have way more money than they could ever spend. For example, the famous Italian soccer player Mario Balotelli playing in Manchester City has recently built a real size gold plated statue of himself to put in his house and is seen in the most exclusive nightclubs spending a couple of thousands of dollars on a regular basis, and he is not even the best paid player on his own team. Another example among many is Kobe Bryant from the Los Angeles Lakers who goes to his basketball practices in a helicopter and who will earn $30million next year without even counting his endorsements. This kind of behavior happens regularly among professional athletes and it gave them a bad image. It is an unattainable and unimaginable lifestyle for policemen, firemen or teachers and it is understandable that some people think it is unfair. It can even be said that it is ethically wrong for a society to have this kind of difference between salaries. .
People are also complaining about the salary of a player when a player is not contributing well enough, or if he is not even playing.
