Eighth Grade Graduation Speech

Welcome teachers, family, friends and class of 2014. We have gathered here today to honor and congratulate the Madison junior school 8th graders for their promotion and completing their structure. We stand here today ready to go in to the big, scary high school having almost absolutely no idea of what is going to happen, but what we dont realize is that we have already been through a similar journey to the one we are about to experience in high school. At first coming to the junior school was scary but by the first couple days it became our new home. We found new friends, figured out how to open our lockers, and figure out our schedules which was like putting together a jigsaw puzzle, but despite this we made it here on this stage about to graduate from the junior school, so we must have done something right. Next year we will be at the bottom of the chain once again, but this time we will know some of the obstacles we will have to go through. Obstacles can be challenging but with hard work and determination we can build our house. We have all dealt with being at the bottom of the chain or at least felt like we hit rock bottom. Such as failing a class, your best friend moving or losing someone important to us have been experiences that may have taught us that giving up is not an option. You have to be brave and take risks even if youre skeptical of them. If you want to achieve and succeed in life, when an opportunity knocks on your door and present itself you must seize it or in other words Caprediem, which in Latin means seize the day. You must also take advantage of our favourite memories that will stick with us forever, Like Mr. R, our all-time favourite substitute or our amusing Mrs. Brady Singing songs and giving us all loving names.
