Ask any sports fan this question, what is your favorite day and they would most likely reply its game day. Sport fans show their pride in their sport teams by wearing their colors, singing chants about them or most commonly shouting their team names to pick at fans of other teams and rivals. If your favorite team's name is influenced by Native Americans then you would not want to shout that to anyone. In society today the teams that are named in respect of Native Americans are under fire, especially if you are a Washington Redskins fan. The Redskins is a team that is getting fire from the public for having a derogatory nickname aimed at Native Americans. Most people argue that it is offensive for the team of our nation's capital to have the name Redskin because it's disrespectful to a race of people and they are calling for the team to be renamed to something else. While the franchise in Washington is getting most of the criticism for a name change, there are other sport franchises that have a Native American name but they are getting less attention, but it is not right to change just one name, you have to change the names of the other teams to eliminate the problem entirely.

A group of Native Americans stood outside the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium for a game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Washington Redskins. That was home to the largest protest of the Redskins name. This article by John Cox shows the fury that the Native Americans are having about this situation that is going on now. They consider the Redskins moniker deeply offensive, while team owner Daniel Snyder argues that it honors Native Americans and has vowed never to change it.
