The Affects of the Death Penalty

.
The underlying concept used is that everyone is a media person and they simply believe media without any problem because any information provided on media should be authentic. However, this is not true; media is not always right. The information provided to viewers by the media can also be a plot or a one sided argument. This aspect of the story is hidden from the viewers. Due to this, viewers are highly affected by what they see and what media shows them. Similarly, as evident from the article, responses of participants were skewed in two directions showing a preference of life imprisonment without parole, restitution, and the death penalty (Niven 679). .
The next theory that is evident from the article provided is social conflict theory. According to this theory, it states that people have different sources of materials through which they judge what is wrong and what is right. In light of the article given, it is clear that people perceive media and other relative factors as the key sources rather than addressing any other type of consequences other than the death penalty. People just have one source of information that they perceive as real and this is the main reason why media has such a huge influence on people. Media covers all the aspects which are very popular and similar, the different popular issues when given coverage on media shows all such aspects or views that supports those issues and do not highlight that what is going wrong in it. This is the main reason why viewers think that this is what actually happens with the death penalty and it is the best punishment for convicts and murderers. .
This is also shown from the article's results in which passengers on an airport were given three short newsletters showing three different perspectives about the death penalty. The group of research participants that were given with the short paper referring to condition two of life without parole plus restitution, showed the least preference percentage (62%) for the death penalty compared to other percentages (82 % and 81 %) acquired by the readers of newspaper articles concerned with widespread use of the death penalty and renovations at the airport.
