            Many individuals look for external help in terms of supplementation to aid in the process of increasing human performance and gaining lean body mass all along with diminishing the amount of fat tissue. With 66% of the United States being overweight, there has been an increase in the demand for weight loss methods and nutrition. The supplement industry has developed various products to aid the in the process of body leaning and weight loss.              Caffeine being one of the common variables tested in research, has gained the reputation of having several possible ergogenic benefits including an in increase in human performance, elevating resting energy expenditure, body leaning, and decreasing the total amount of body fat (Outlaw et al. 2013). Many studies have reported that their test subjects have increased their resting energy expenditure by 4.6% while consuming caffeine (Ryan et al. 2009). With an upward spike in energy expenditure, weight loss could be easily obtainable. Besides these thermogenic benefits, 120mg of caffeine increases alertness, reduces fatigue and improves mood states. All which could provide the edge when dealing with weight loss subjects. .
