Zinedine ZIdane - Prolific Soccer Player

 

            Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world. Since its invention in Germany, soccer has millions of fans all over the world. A football team is made up of 11 players who pass the ball around with the intention of getting it past the opponent's defenders and goal keeper. There are the middle players who mediate play from the defenders to the strikers and vice versa. Because of the tremendous popularity of the sport, soccer has been divided into specific leagues whereby the top team gets a trophy and other rewards depending on the sophistication and locality of the league. In this connection, many players have stand out among the rest, Zinedine Zidane is one of the prolific players who was a household name during his playing days. He played in the elite tournament in the world, the world cup, where he led France to victory during the 1998 world cup. He was a prominent player and is regarded by many as one of soccer's living legends. This paper presents a brief biography and analysis of Zinedine Zinane.
             Zinedine was born in the early 1970s in Marseille, France. He began playing professional soccer in 1988 for a French team called Cannes, scoring in his first game. Quickly, he became a star player and rose fast through expert ranks. He played as a midfielder and impressed his fans with his excellent dribbling skills, fast feet, pinpoint passes, and eye for the goal. In 1992, he moved to another French team called Bordeaux where he played for four years before moving to Italy's Juventus (Carther, 398). In 1998, Zinedine gained international recognition by scoring two goals while playing in 1998's world cup finals whereby they beat Brazil 3-0 to claim their first-ever world cup trophy (FIFA, 1). .
             Particularly, Zinedine played for Juventus until the year 2001 when he moved to Real Madrid at a record fee of about 66 million U.S dollars. While at Juventus, Zinedine ensured that he would be remembered for steering the Italian giants to winning the UEFA Super Cup, the Italian Super Cup, the Intercontinental Cup, and multiple Series A titles.
