My Breakthrough Moment

The dream of every kid in junior high school is to be popular. There are only a handful of kids that aren't worried about popularity the "nerds." That's what my problem was in junior high school, instead of being a part of the crowd I wanted to lead it. In which I failed to lead any crowd, just simply became a part of one. But what kids don't understand is that being a student first is the most important thing in school. It will take you so much farther in life, rather than being the person that everyone knows. Only thing that does for you is trap you dead center in dramas crosshairs. That creates a million more problems for you to suffer through. This is what needs to be done now so you won't have a single regret later. Everything else can come second such as popularity. I wish I had taken my own advice back then; it would have saved me a year of school.
In school, I always put my work first and everything else last. My teachers always told me I was the leader of the class due to the attributes shown in class. My family always told me that I was made to be a leader. Most of my friend's parents told me and my mom that I carried the characteristics of a leader. That was until around 8th grade my entire social network of friends expanded. I wanted to become the cool kid in school, the kid that everyone surrounded during lunch or in between classes. Instead of being the leader my teachers always depicted me to be, I was trapped as a follower. I was more focused on being the class clown, and everyone's friend. My work ethic was so pathetic; I stopped doing homework, class work, just everything that dealt with school. I got exactly what I yearned for; I was the clown of my class. I was the person everyone knew that failed the 8th grade due to stupidity of my own decisions. .
Having to repeat a grade is excruciatingly embarrassing. You become the joke of all jokesters, a walking punch line. Even teachers are liable to make fun of you on their own time.
