Christmas - A Christian Holiday

We Filipinos are known to be hospitable and that families have been valued so much by us. We never forget to wear a smile because of the positive attitude that we have possessed amidst our problems or even after disasters come our way. These are the main reasons why we should be proud of our race. Because our population is mostly composed of Christians, our faith and the traditions of the Church become part of our everyday living. From the switching-on of the sun's light until the back-up lighting from the moon, we practice our Christian values and beliefs -----this is evident in our prayer recitals.  We celebrate every special occasion with great preparations, one of which is the Christmas season. .
When darkness falls and overrules the sunlight, sparkling eyes rove around the new sights to behold. This usually starts on the first day of September and is only seen in the Philippines. We Filipinos have been celebrating Christmas the longest around the world for many months. Houses are already painted with Christmas décors and sometimes these will not have been being removed by families until March. It is somehow a bit unusual that Christmas decors are present during Halloween trick-or-treats. That's a Filipino way of saying "hello ber-months it's Christmas time!".
During this season we feel different kind of freshness in the air, as if each place we go had been sprayed with the sweetest scent of the most expensive perfume, which makes Christmas a one of a kind celebration. There is excitement in the air and the spirit of celebration is moving around! The shops had been flooding with new stocks before Christmas came and groceries had been being bought by multitudes before the prices got even higher. Gifts are being wrapped and will have sent to the recipients by December 25. Christmas trees and the decors are out and the lights up with beautiful designs. People from all walks of life unite in decorating their homes, inside and out.
