Keys to Good Sportsmanship

Before walking onto the field, you are told by your coach to get the win, play to the best of your ability, and to have a good game. You are told by your parents to play nice and good luck. You hear in the stands your classmates and peers cheer on your name and to fight for the win You run onto the field with determination, and a positive mindset. You want to play your game, and be the best player, but what makes the game is the sportsmanship. It is the bonding between the team players and even the opponent players. You can't have a good game if there is a constant battle between the opposing sides or even the team itself. You walk onto your field with pride, destination, and a desire for that particular sport. What is also needed is respect; you must respect everything. .
I know when I run onto the field, I look to my coaches and teammates with respect, but also to my opponents, the field, and even the number on my jersey. I must respect all that surrounds me because I am so fortunate to be a member of the sport and team. I gained my position on the team from being the person and player I am. We are told numerous times to follow various sportsmanship rules and unfortunately some do not find the need to follow them. It is mandatory to be a team player with a positive aspect. No matter if you win or lose the game, you should never have a negative attitude. .
During the game, it can be aggravating to hear the numerous calls and penalties. It is up to us players on how we want to react. No one likes to hear anything they don't agree with, but in this position it is best to just respect the call. Of course this is no easy position to be in but no matter who the call was made on, you must be the bigger player. From the beginning of the game to the end, I work to the best of my ability. I love the feel of adrenaline and excitement. I look at all my teammates and we are covered in dirt, stains, and sweat.
