Cardiovascular Disease

If people take better care of themselves, it could be less prevalent.
             Varying Types.
There are various types of CVD's. Three distinctive types are heart attack, high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure. The symptoms for each disease vary according to the individual. For instance, a person may have a heart attack and not experience any symptoms. However, in most cases, the main symptoms of a heart attack is sudden pain in the center of the chest. An individual may describe the pain as a feeling of tension, pressure, or a grasping sensation. High blood pressure typically does not produce symptoms. Nonetheless, if patients have begun the process of having: severe headaches, tremors, or shortness of breath, the disease may have started to cause organ damage. Congestive heart failure manifests when the heart is debilitated and is unable to pump an efficient supply of blood to the lungs and throughout the body (Wiley, 2004). There are numerous types of illnesses within CVD, but these three disease are the most prevalent among patients today.
             Duration.
The duration of the disease can vary depending on the severity and the individual. Whether or not a patient follows doctors' orders determines the duration as well. Some of the factors that can have an influence on duration are: weight, ethnicity, tobacco users, family history, physical activity, alcohol consumption, how well an individual copes with stress, and etc. All of these presenting factors can determine if the duration process will be short or long. However, it will vary for each individual (Wiley, 2004).
             Age of Onset.
CVD can happen at any age. It happens when the individuals' heart is not functioning properly and there is a block of blood flow to the heart and a reduction of oxygen supply. People are at a greater risk of CVD if they are overweight, diabetic, males over the age of 45, females over the age of 55, have a family history of CVD, lack of exercise, stress, and etc.
