Vaccine Safety and Testing

S. is encouraged to report any significant health problem or unexpected event" (CDC). The VAERS want to hear your reports and want to be able to evaluate the possible ways they can enhance performance in the vaccine. So if anything goes wrong, the VAERS won't run in hide, they would actually be the people expecting to hear from the public of all experiences adverse to the vaccines. .
The Vaccine Safety Datalink, or VSD, is "a collaborative effort between CDC's Immunization Safety Office and 9 managed care organizations" (CDC). The VSD is used to monitor immunization safety and also focus on ideas on how to fix rare and serious events post vaccination. There is also a database available that gives researchers access date that has already been collected from recent studies and reports, for example: vaccine type, date of vaccination, lot number, injection site, and also possible adverse events. "All medical illnesses whether vaccine related or not are already in the database" (NNii). VSD holds all reports and incidents of patients that have experienced severe illnesses after receiving a vaccine with specifics. Some of the illnesses adverse to the event of a vaccination could be from a bad batch or single vial. That is why it's important that when the vaccination is given, that the nurse writes down the lot number so that it can be reported, and used in the VSD concerning the exact batch the vaccine came from. The VSD holds all reports made to the VAERS. This can confirm that the public's safety is being taken care of and in the right hands. "All or almost all information on vaccination is also available. Thus, investigators can determine the most valid incidence rate of an illness following vaccination" (NNii). This information is used to compare these illnesses to those who have also experienced after receiving the vaccination, those illnesses are also compared to the symptoms of those who didn't receive a vaccination at all.
