Islamic Terrorism.
Islamic terrorism may be defined as violent acts committed by groups or individuals to innocent people by those who profess Islamist motivations and goals. Since 1993, there have been over thirty-three confirmed attempts of Islamic based terrorist attacks all over the world.15 There are various Islamic based terrorist groups all across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. A few major terrorist groups who make international headlines consistently are Boko Haram, Al-Qaeda, Islamic State, Taliban and the Muslim Brotherhood.16 If Wahhabism does in fact encourage these Islamic based organizations to commit heinous acts in the name of Islam, then there should be a link between these terrorist organization's ideology and Wahhabi theology. .
Boko Haram.
Boko Haram made headlines in 2014 when they kidnapped 185 Nigerian school girls, as well as young boys and older women on this rampage.17 According to Fox News, "Boko Haram has kidnapped an unknown number of girls, women and young men to be used as sex slaves and fighters. Boko Haram also has used females of all ages as suicide bombers, sending them into crowded market places and elsewhere".18 Boko Haram is an Islamic militant organization in northern Nigeria that rejects Western education, the authority of the Nigerian state, and Islamic interpretations that oppose its own teachings and beliefs.19 The premise of Wahhabi ideology was to reject modern practices under the appearance of reviving the true tenets of Islam while also protecting the concept of monotheism within the religion.
