Cyberbullying - Bullying Undercover

 

            Cyber bullying is an on going and increasing plague that, unfortunately, the people of this social networking era have been burdened with . However, this burden can come with some relief. Prevention is a big part of trying to reduce bullying unfortunately it's easier said then done. "Nearly 43% of kids have been bullied online, 1 in 4 have had it happen more then once."(Grahm). The cruel criminal act of cyber bullying permanently damages the minds of its victim and can eventually have the criminal facing our justice system.
             It's quite obvious that cyber bullying is extremely dangerous to the victim of the crime. Some people who do not fully comprehend the severity of this topic would most likely disregard someone who complains of being cyber bullied. One would think that the victim can just walk away from the technology and simply go on with there lives like nothing happened. This couldn't be any farther from the truth."Over 80% of teens use their phones on a daily basis" (Grahm) due to the fact this generation is constantly on the phone, it is almost impossible to not see a negative comment or status about you especially when almost every phone is equipped with applications such as Facebook and Twitter. You will not be able to tell if a person has been deeply affected by cyber bullying just by looking at them. Within an individuals inner cognitive mind they are experiencing something much worse then physical pain, a slow engulfing disorder called depression. Ryan Broderick of buzzfeed.com stated that "9 teenage suicides in the last year were linked to cyber bullying on social network." The damaging affects of cyber bulling doesn't end there. Cyber bullying could have a negative affect on the education and social well being of the victim. An individual who is dealing with a cyber bully may feel threatened or frightened to go to an establishment where they may face their bully and will try and avoid this encounter at all cost.
