Olympic Games Do More Harm Than Good to the City Host

Firstly, I would like to refer to the terrorism that the Olympic Games brings to the host-city. As the center of interest, the city is many times a victim of terrorism. A bright example is the bombing that took in Atlanta at 1996 the games were marred when a pipe bomb exploded in Centennial Olympic Park, which had become a popular gathering place for tourists during the games. The bomb killed one person and injured more than 100 others. Also, the tragic deaths of 11 Israeli athletes clouded the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany. This Los Angeles Times article describes the attack on the Olympic Village by Palestinian terrorists and the subsequent shootout of German police that left nine hostages dead. Despite the speculation in this article that the Olympics would be cancelled, the Games continued after a day of mourning. In addition, many incidents happen which are non terrorist attacks, like the one in Mexico during the Olympic Games demonstrators that were protesting in the city were treated with excessive use of force, several hundred of whom were killed.
Secondly it is virtually impossible to know the true cost to a city of hosting an Olympic Games because there is no accepted way of assessing expenditure. Olympic budgets are political, contentious and notoriously unreliable. To present Olympic expenditure in the best possible light host cities often hide certain items or shift them to other budgets. As result of these tremendously high costs the government raises the taxes and the costs increase. So in a matter of fact the city passes an economical crisis. .
Further more I would like to emphasize the social problems that the city will suffer of. After the Olympic Games the city will not only suffer from the economical crisis it will have due to all its loans it has to repay but also from the hundreds of unemployed civilians that will be created. After the Olympic Games all of the people that had a full-time jobs will become unemployed and this will rise the unemployment in this city, creating this social problem.
