Affirmative Action: Dismantle or Remantle

Medical schools, military academies and even minority organizations have created "criteria" by which its employment, memberships and acceptance are based upon. I.e., sons and daughters of physicians being reviewed separately from the other medical school applicants, military academy's admitting sons and daughters of graduates, and Presidential appointee's. These are non-traditional, but common, practices and methods by which we continue institutional racism. .
Race, gender, religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, socio-economic status, standardized test scores, lineage and disability. These characteristics, nor any other, individually or collectively, should ever solely determine the decision of employment, membership, or educational growth. However, each of the characteristics of persona should be taken into consideration in determining the most qualified candidates for employment, membership and acceptance to get the most qualified individual.
Clearly affirmative action should be based on qualification first, which in no way represents or promotes racism and discrimination. One's achievement, when being compared to another is important, and should be based on the platform from which that person began. The platforms from which we start have both positive and negative connotations in any application process. I.e., the road for an heir to wealth is a very different road than a one that is a self-made millionaire; the individual that is given the support of a two parent household, financial security, and options of extra-curricular activities throughout early childhood would be expected to be secure when approaching new endeavors or challenges. While these are less cognitive and non-traditional measurements, they are the measurable. These very differences help to shape and mold our values, outlook, determination and purpose. .
Throughout the life span of our young country there have been millions of unjust incidences of discrimination, wrong doings and even cases of murder, that were based on the color of one's skin, gender, religion, sexual orientation and other characteristic's of persona.
