Feelings such as Love may be common, but jealousy, anger, fidelity, vengeance (what Oberon does to Titania over an Indian boy) and mischief do really strike me for a start.
So what causes Oberon and Titania's bumpy ride before discovering their true love? The conflict arises when Titania refuses to hand over the "changeling boy" to Oberon. Stubbornness causes her to turn down turn his command and leads to a terrible consequence, according to Puck;.
.
"And now they never meet in grove or green,.
By fountain clear or spangles starlight sheen, But they do square, that all their elves for fear,.
Creep into acorn cups and hide them there" .
To make the situation worse, their jealousies (one of the factors) make them accuse each others" fidelity. In addition, Titania who is under the influence of the magical flower juice falls deeply love(lust) for Bottom (with an ass head), turns to be another obstacle in between Oberon and Titania's relationship. So, I can conclude that their relationship is definitely not smooth moving.
LYSANDER & HERMIA.
Focusing on Lysander and Hermia's relationship, I can see that their obstacles faced are rather complicated but common if compared to Oberon and Titania (the immortals) or Thesues and Hyppolyta's cases. This couple's situation reflects the common obstacles usually faced by other people in today's universe. The main obstacle to their true love is parental approval. Hermia's father, Egues forbids her from marrying Lysander(her true love) instead he dictates her to marry Demetrius! Moreover, referring back to older community standards, parents have the rights in choosing a suitable life partner for their child.
Lysander's comments that "The course of true love never did run smooth" is vividly shown here. Therefore, Hermia entirely agree as supported by her statement in Act I Scene I;.
.
"O hell! To choose love by another's eye".
This play shows that in the Shakespearean era, disobedience to parents could be punished by law.
