Alchemist: Relating to Personal Legend

Mine may be totally different from that of Santiago, but they are equally important in each of our lives. There are many similarities between Santiago and me that aren't apparent at first glance, and there are also many things I would have done differently if given the chance. The book gives a complete story of Santiago's quest to find his Personal Legend, and in the end he did. My life is not a book and is not complete; I do not even know my Personal Legend yet, so to compare my life side by side with his is difficult. What I do know is what I've lived so far and how my past experiences can relate to those of Santiago. My future is the only thing ahead of me and is therefore the only thing I must try to change. .
It is difficult to see the similarities between Santiago and me at first glance, but when our lives are analyzed, it is possible to do so. Santiago loved to do what he liked, and it did not matter to him if he was very successful or respected as long as he was doing what he liked. By becoming a shepherd, Santiago gave up his studies in religion and began to wander the fields of Anadulusia, simply because he wanted to travel. I also have this same mentality in how I want to live my life. I don't care how much money I make or how I am viewed by society as long as I am happy and doing something I like. Santiago was very analytical of his own life and was able to recognize omens and that helped him along his journey. I also think like this often even though it might not seem so at times. I think about my life and future even though it may seem as though I don't care what happens. I have plans for my future, and in some ways I don't know how I will get there. Sometimes it looks like I am not directing myself in a positive direction, but I really do think about my life and what I need to do to live happily and conscientiously. Santiago and I are both in search of our Personal Legends and are only embarking on this journey for ourselves, no one else.
