Tess's arrival at Talbothays coincides with the heavy moment of the herd, full and ready for milking, gives a fulfilment of the place. It paints a picture of life and riches. Tess becomes friends with the girls at Talbothays, they also work as milkmaids. They all love angel who is a milker too. The country folk who Tess became friends with make her feel that Tess has made the right decision coming to Talbothays, e.g. mr crick offers Tess some food, but Tess prefers do drink music where Tess has come to it is full of happiness & love she now has the sense of family which she never had at home. Everybody shares big meals and have lively conversations which will probably make Tess fell more at home. Tess is very tired as she falls asleep amid the dairy they describe her nostrils as " as the snoring puffs from her nostrils. While Tess was sleeping the rest of the maids were talking about angel Clare. A typical day in June were Tess is drawn to the music of angels harp she makes her way out to angel to, the distance she had come in order to meat angel-which could mean that Tess fancies angel. Tess and her family where on there way to church in their best dresses, when they came across a path which was flooded they didn't know how to get across so they held on to the trees and stood on the bank and slowly started to make their way across the flooded path, then angel came along and offered to carry the ladies over the water one by one, angel was drawn to Tess straight away.
As the season developed and matured and the relationship between Tess and angel, and almost before Tess realized she was seated in his arms and learning on his shoulders, this could show that they fancy each other. The dawn was a purple or pink suggesting the romance between Tess and angel and even the humid air could suggest something to do with their passion.
