The shape of the poem reflects the conflicting thought in the poets head.In the first stanza the poet describe the beautiful clothes she has received. However, elsewhere in the poem she shows the bad things that have happened in Pakistan "from camel to shade".The lineation of the poem shows that she is confused the lines are not in a fixed so the poet can break a line to create emphasis.
The poet relays the sense of confusion by these presents, she describes how confuse she feels for example " I was aflame".The description is effective because she is trying to say that is inside a fire she doesn't know what to do or where she belongs.
The poet feels that she doesn't belong to either Pakisstan or England. It is very difficult for her because she was born in Pakistan but then grew up in England and as result doesn't know the Pakistani culture. The poem made me think of where i belong my parents and i were born in Turkey and now I am living in England.
