Some people believe that if they have lots of money then it will guarantee them happiness. Morrie thinks that instead of money buying happiness, you should get happiness from your time with other people, your talents, and just who you are. I also agree with Morrie that money does not buy you happiness because there are so many wealthy people who just are not happy.
Morrie is right that money doesn't always give people happiness. There are so many wealthy people in this world who are just not happy. When people have so much money, they start to just not care about anything or anyone except for their money. It can also bring them unhappiness because they won't know if a significant other feels affection for them for who they are, or for their money. I don't have to have money for me to be happy. I can be happy by helping less fortunate people with whatever I can. I can volunteer at hospitals, help at homeless shelters, or just help whoever I can. All of these things can make me happy, and money is not involved at all. It seems as though in our culture no one understands other ways of getting their own happiness. People now days are so caught up in going to the best college and getting a starting job salary of one hundred-thousand dollars a year that they just can't enjoy their lives while they can. They do nothing but cramp in their rooms and study. It seems as though they have never seen light before when they finally come out. I believe that you should just live your life while you have the time to do it. By that I don't mean be lazy and not care about academics, but just not to overdo it and not have any fun.
I agree with Morrie Schwartz when he said that many wealthy people expect money to buy them happiness, and it just creates problems. There are always those people who don't rely on money to give them satisfaction, but they get that buy using their talents they have and by helping others.
