Chemotherapy: Uses and Abuses

 

There are three types of immunotherapy which include (1) Monoclonal antibody therapy which is a form of passive immunotherapy, (2) Cancer vaccines which is a form of specific immunotherapy and (3) nonspecific immunotherapy. There are also three types of biological/immunotherapy treatment. These include: surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Cancer vaccines are made up of cancer cells, parts of cells or pure antigens. This makes the immune system respond to the cancerous cells more. .
             4. The manual healing and physical touch approach includes cupping, Watsu, body work and massage. Cupping is the heating of a metal, wooden or other form of cup. The cup is then run over areas thought to contain energy, in order to promote health. Watsu is a form of body work done in slightly hot water. It is supposed to recreate the feeling of the womb. It is said to release energy to remove blockages, whether they be physical or mental. Body work is a form that allows the person to get to know his or her own body by breathing exercises and movement of the hands on body tissues and muscles. The other method is massage. It is used to relieve stress and help cure cancer. Though a lot of people may choose to go for one of these methods, there has been no evidence that cupping, Watsu, body work, or massage may help or completely cure any type of cancer. .
             Four methods that can be found under the mind, body and spirit approach include faith healing, yoga, aromatherapy and imagery. A higher power is the main thing in faith healing. People rely on their belief that someone higher than them will cure them. Yoga is used to provide overall good health. Aromatherapy can be massaged or breathed into the body. This is where oils and scents are taken from plants and put into the body. Imagery is, in a sense, mind control. It is where a person is told just to see themselves healthy, and think that they are, and then they will become healthy.
