Berlin Conference

From 1884 to 1914 Africa was being slowly carved up by European nations in order for them to industrialize. I believe the Europeans benefited most from imperialism. The Africans were pushed out and their land was stolen during the Berlin Conference. Where Britain, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Holland went to Africa and stole there land. Then the British arrived and pushed the Dutch to the Transvaal and stripping all this land from the Africans. Anther reason which I believe the Europeans benefited more so than the Africans during imperialism is the Boer war. Between the Europeans and the Africans during this war the Africans farms were burned, women and children imprisoned in concentration camps, and many Africans lost there lives trying to protect their countries. The song Don't drink the water by the Dave Matthews band was about the Boer war. The line in the song "don't drink the water there is blood in the water" is referring to the battle of Blood River, and it shows that there was a lot of Africans who died trying to save their land. The final reason why the Africans least benefited from imperialism is they were peaceful and happy until the Europeans industrialized and rapidly ran out of their own resources and needed to imperialize in order to maintain the industrialization of their country. Because of this the Europeans decided that Africa has plenty of land fertile soil and many resources that it would be a perfect target for robbing. Therefore, the Africans were disturbed and left with nothing. Overall, imperialism was successful for the Europeans especially Britain because they eventually win the Boer war and rule most of Africa. However, imperialism was horrible and benefited Africa the least.
