Water purification

Water purification is the process in which you take contaminated, dirty water and cycle it through a series of filters to clean and sterilize it. My group comprised of Brian (Team Leader), Laura (Recorder), Alynsia (Materials Producer), and myself Louis (Materials Producer) are in charge of purifying the town of Brown water's Water. The sample of water that was inspected by the group was a mercy looking substance that from our knowledge contained: mineral oil, vinegar, macerated leaves, garlic, and potting soil. This is not a mixture of just about everything that you could have effect our water in this town. As you can tell our water is a very dirty and smelly substance that needs to be purified soon or many will be affected and possibly die. .
Like everything else there is a purpose for the four methods of water purification. Extraction is the first step in our process, and its purpose is to clean water enough so that partials are no longer present. This will clean water enough to get retested. Filtration is the second step in our purification process. Filtration is used to clean small partials along with contaminants so that a water sample can be reused. Distillation is the process that the group used next. This method turns sample into steam, and then hits a cold wall, which will turn steam back into water. The purpose of this is to decontaminate the water sample. Phase separation is the last phase of water purification. The group used this method to extract the oil sample out of the water so that we could have a clean sample. These four methods are the way in which water is purified for a cleaner substance.
The method that our group has decided upon to clean our town's water is by extraction, filtration, distillation, and phase separation. Extraction is the process in which the team used charcoal to try to clear the water of its scent and color. Though this was not enough.
