Populations in the U.S from 1850 to 1900

Today we recognize the diversity of populations from various ethnic, social, political, and economical elements of society. The impact of the diversity in this nation today is tremendous. The developing of this nation had a lot to do with these elements of society. The following populations are ranked in from one (highest) to eight (lowest) from the years 1865 to 1900. .
             Rank 8: American Indians.
The lowest in rank which who fared the least was the Native American Indians, the first among the American people. At the time of 1860s through 1870s there was a clash of two different cultures. There was the new frontier closing in towards the west cost and the new industrialization of America. This clash of cultures between the Native Americans and the western settlers caused a mixed interest in land ownership. As the people moved west they encountered many Natives and both resulted in war. Many western settlers thought that they owned all land that they discovered and the Natives didn't live there already. To them the ownership of land was not necessary and the thought of being kicked out of their own land was absurd. The constant war between the western settlers and the Native Americans caused many treaties to be signed and caused the creation of the Daws Act, which was the attempt to "Americanize Indians". While attempting to fight with native weapons against a heavily armed American society many to most native's that fought, had died in attempt to save their land. The question that had resulted to many Native tribes was horrific. They had the ability to both fight, and protect the land they had been living on for generations, or resist and have to give up you land and be put on reservations for American Indians. By the 1890s many American Natives had given up and had fled or entered reservations, others were still holding out for their land. This group fares the least in my opinion because they were the most vulnerable to destruction to their lands because of the lack of weapons and lack of experience to this kind of warfare.
