For example Cassius, whose envy takes him to conspire against Caesar and plan his assessination. Mark Antony, Caesar's only true friend, offers Caesar the crown, but he refuses it. Meanwhile, Cassius has been trying to convince Brutus of joining the conspiracy against Julius Caesar. Brutus thinks that if Caesar were to become the Roman Emperor, he would become a tyrant and endanger the Roman Empire. .
At the festival, called the Lupercalia Caesar is warned to "Beware of the ides of March" by a sooth sayer. Cassius tries to convince Brutus to join the conspiracy once again and learns about Brutus's fear of Caesar's power and uses it to persuade him. Cassius plans to write letters to Brutus pretending to be citizens afraid of Caesar's ambition.
Brutus thinks about it and concludes that Caesar must be killed or he will become a tyrant. He then, joins Cassius and the other conspirators. Cassius suggests that they should kill Mark Antony, too, but Brutus says that there is no need for that.

Calpurnia, Caesar's wife, has been having nightmares about Caesar's death. She had a dream about Roman citizens washing their hands with Caesar's blood. Decius Brutus persuades Caesar to come with him to the senate, where Caesar is to be killed. When they get there, Caesar is arguing with one of the conspirators while another one of them, Casca, stabs him followed by the others. The last one to stab him is his "friend", Brutus. Then, he falls dead.
Mark Antony comes to the senate to find out Caesar has been killed. He pretends not to be mad. At Caesar's funeral, Brutus tries to justify the reasons that took them to assassinate Caesar. But Antony asks to speak, and when the conspirators are gone he persuades the people against Brutus and the others. .
Mark Antony suggests that Caesar's ghost will revenge his death and there will be a war. The citizens turn in favor of Antony and against Brutus.
