ADHD

Scientists have narrowed the search for the single gene to about 150 when they found this information about chromosome 16. The process of finding the correct gene is very tedious and will require a great amount of patience. In fact, the researchers at UCLA are still trying to confirm their evidence about chromosome 16. When they confirm this information, the next step will be to find out what they can do to help the individuals that have the disorder. Scientists may be able to eliminate the disorder, or they can provide a helpful treatment. .
The way the researchers found out the possible location of ADHD is quite profound. The process started by testing a broad range of genes and looking for any potential risk genes. After several regions showed equal results for risk genes, there was still no conclusive evidence of any region as to where the disorder could be linked. However, science never relies on one test or experiment, and several other tests were done too. In one of the tests, a region found a risk-gene region that was extremely promising. Even more research was conducted on a large amount of children. At first, the results showed that several regions were responsible for the disorder, including chromosome 16 along with several other chromosomes. However, after more research, the 16th chromosome region is believed to be responsible for about 30% of the ADHD disorder. Other believed links to ADHD are dopamine, which basically just carries messages to the brain. The dopamine receivers are believed to be a bit faulty which would also contribute to the disorder. These genes would be a bit slow which would result in ADHD. .
The question is why does this disorder happen around the 16th chromosome. To answer this question, more research was done. Scientists found a form of an ADHD gene that shows that the disorder was once necessary in humans. This type of disorder helped humans survive and to flourish.
