Gender Selection of Human Babies

" There's nothing worse than having a baby put in your arms when you are hoping for one of the opposite sex." This is one reason a Briar Hill couple used to support there decision to use IVF treatment to guarantee them a baby girl. This controversial method of conception is only legal in New South Wales and Queensland. In Victoria, it is only allowed for medical reasons " such as preventing the spread of gender specific diseases." This is a very expensive and ethical issue of gender selection in human babies can not be justified or accepted in modern society.
Many couples do not have the luck of being able to conceive naturally. These people would be grateful just to have a baby. Medical intervention, like IVF treatment, gives these couples hope that they will be able to have a little bundle of joy themselves. On the other hand, we have people like the Briar Hill couple, who already have four boys, using IVF treatment to get the baby girl they can not live without. This is selfish, ungrateful and greedy in many peoples opinion. These couples who are able to conceive naturally should be thankful that they receive these wonderful miracles from Mother Nature.
Many couples have babies who are still born, sick or die at a young age. For these people they do not care about whether the baby is a girl or boy. They pray for their baby to get better or are left with the question "Why our baby?" Linda says " I was at peace. I was so happy she was finally here." Linda should be at peace because she gave birth to a healthy baby, not because she gave birth to a baby of the sex she wanted.
Some couples turn to IVF treatment for sex selection of their babies to gain a more balanced family. IVF treatment allows the sperm to be sorted so that parents can balance the boy: girl ratio and maintain this balance. Is this an acceptable reason for gender selection in human babies? Many people will say it is not and that you are going against the laws of Mother Nature.
