Graduated licencing program

This is good in a way because parents should be some what responsible for their children but I think that if they are old enough to drive a car they should be mature enough to accept responsibility for there own actions.
             ICBC has also made changes to the novice stage. The length of the novice level has been changed from eighteen months to twenty-four months and if they receive a driving prohibition within this period they have to start the novice stage from the beginning. Having them start over again can be an incentive to be a responsible driver but many young drivers aren't to concerned with this because it hasn't taken their right to drive away, and having the novice period longer doesn't change much because most young drivers are only concerned with if they can actually drive or not. They have added a new restriction that all new drivers must only have one passenger, unless it is immediate family or if a supervisor twenty-five years or older is present. This restriction was put in place so that when accidents do occur fewer people will be injured or killed. This restriction is good for that reason but it does increase the number of cars on the road driven by young drivers, possibly increasing the chance of more accidents. .
             I myself have gone through the Graduated Licensing Program and I have taken driving lessons from Young Divers of Canada. ICBC recognizes this as one of the best driving school in BC. Parents are paying a great deal of money for these driving schools and I know from first hand experience just how easy it is to drive exactly the way your parents or your driving instructor wants and then get into a car on your own and completely ignore everything that you were told. The problem isn't learning how to drive properly and having lots of experience, its actually being mature enough to drive safely and responsibly on your own.
             My parents and even my grandparents remember what it was like when they got their licenses and they think that even back then young drivers were just as irresponsible as they are now.
