Mohandas Ghandi

 

            Mohandas Gandhi, commonly known today as Mahatma Gandhi, was a very effective and just leader. His passive techniques have influenced many peace activists throughout history. Mohandas was one of the most confident and fearless people ever. He would never arm himself with weapons, he fought by not fighting. Gandhi was a strong opponent to technology, and this shows that he had good values that he would stand for in any circumstance. Technology was very enticing, yet he stuck to his rigid morals and resisted the urge to use machines that made work easier. Gandhi was very trustworthy and people could rely on him to stick to his cause. His hunger strikes were a very good example of this. These hunger strikes had the power to stop riots and massacres. Gandhi was well educated, and very accepting of other peoples. Even thought Gandhi possessed many honorable qualities, there were a few that he lacked. He was sometimes hypocritical because even though he believed in the unity of all people, he failed to keep the Muslim leader Mohammed Ali Jinnah in the Indian National Congress which eventually caused the country to divide. Gandhi attempted to change India into a place where technology was non-existent and all people were accepted, but as can be seen in industrialized India today, his dreams didn't come true. This shows that his political effect in India was not very strong. Even though India did not become this utopia he worked for, Gandhi was a very good leader who possessed many admirable qualities. Even today, people follow in the footsteps of Gandhi.
