How does Frank's relationship with his father differ from his relationship with his mother? Frank's father Matt understands what he is talking about and tries to listen to what he has to say. He would do the same thing if he were Frank because he doesn't see any harm in it. Frank's mother Ruth is a different story she is very controlling over Frank. When ever Frank does something no matter if it is right or wrong Ruth will always put Frank down she will tell him that he is doing it wrong. That is why Mrs. Fouler is telling Frank to break up with his girlfriend Natalie. Mr. Fouler kind of encourages Frank to go out with Natalie just because his parents can't always tell him what to do and control his life forever.
Who is the movie really about? Explain. The movie "In the Bedroom" is really about Frank's father Mr. Matt Fouler. Mr. Fouler changes through out the movie. He is this nice gentle caring father that loves his family very much. His character changes through out the movie, right from the point where is son dies. Then the movie really starts to focuses on Mr. Fouler through is rough times. He tries to cope with the pain in a different way then his wife. He tries to find different ways on how to get Richard sent to jail for life. He tries to put his wife back together by getting rid of Richard. .

My thoughts about Matt's actions at the end of the film where a bit surprising. Matt seemed like a very nice guy that wouldn't hurt a fly. He coped with his son's death a lot better then his wife's. He seemed to get over it in different ways. All he wanted to do is to make his wife happy and he did just that, by killing Richard. Matt's actions were believable towards the end of the movie he got more and more frustrated that he was only going to get like five years in prison.
