Hamlet is a result of bad parenting

It seems Cluadius conveniently and consistently is able to take these vengeances and point them into a direction of his liking. That is all accept one. Because Hamlet keeps to himself, and "holds thy tongue" setting him apart from Laertes and Fortinbras, Claudius is unable to manipulate the situation. One reason Hamlet is so different from the other two characters could have to do with the difference in his father son relationship. Polonesious and Laertes are shown to have a good relationship sharing similar views. Both of them give advice to Ophelia, telling her to stay away from Hamlet. Hamlet on the other hand most likely had a very distant relationship with his father. From Hamlet's personality shown through his actions that Shakespeare marvelously plans out, one could conclude that Hamlet's emotions are an emergent property of his poor parenting.
One could expect any prince to have an abnormal life. Hamlet is a prime example. His father is deeply involved with foreign affairs, while places like Norway are trying to take back land that they rightly lost. He simply does not have time for his son. Hamlet probably did not know his father very well. A lot of his life seemed to be spent away from home at boarding schools across the continent. His father's ghost doe not recognize Horatio as a close friend of Hamlet and therefore does not speak to him. When Horatio brings Hamlet to see his father's ghost, Hamlet doesn't even fully trust it.QUOTE If he had a close relationship with his father Hamlet should be able to tell whether or not the ghost was truly his father. We can see that he is unsure that it is his father because Hamlet will not take the ghost's words as proven fact. Hamlet feels the need to further investigate the ghost's remarks in order to decide whether they were true or not. Altogether Hamlet and his father are shown to have different traits. The reader finds that Hamlet is able to quickly pick up on characters like rosencratz and _____ spying on him.
