In the "Tommy Girl" ad there is only one model used whereas in the advert for "Skechers" uses a group of young, attractive models. There is a clue as to why they have decided to do this in the slogans that appear on the adverts. The slogan for "Tommy Girl" is "A declaration of independence" and generally when people think of being independent they think of doing things on their own hence the model having no company in the advert. However the slogan for "Skechers" is "Pure fun" and when people think of fun they think of spending time with their friends and being in a group of people who you feel comfortable with. This shows that the companies are trying to get their own individual messages across, and the slogans in the adverts apply to the products.
In both adverts it shows the actual product being advertised, and they are very prominent. In the "Skechers" ad it shows all the people wearing different versions of the "Skechers" range. The company is using the advert to promote various different types of trainers. The "Tommy Girl" advert is just advertising the one range of perfume. Suggesting that they just want to concentrate on the one product. .
In the "Tommy Girl" ad there is not a group of teenagers but only one girl on her own, in a close up shot. You can see that the girl is quite pretty, so this would make a person look at the ad. Most advertising companies use sexually attractive people, to attract the opposite sex and to make people of the same sex want to be like them. The "Skechers" company also uses this technique by having a group of attractive teenagers, male and female to attract both sexes.
The "Skechers" ad also implies that by wearing these trainers it makes the girls sexually attractive to the males in the advert. But the "Tommy Girl" ad doesn't give this message because there are no males featured in the advert. Instead it gives the message of independence, implying that the girl doesn't need male attention or a boyfriend to make her feel good, because she has "Tommy Girl" which already does this for her.
