Child Abuse

Given the obvious and direct link that exits between poverty and child abuse, given that poverty, according to studies, in fact in many cases can be said to cause child abuse, why do so many politicians and journalists insist that child abuse hits all economic classes equally? The casual link between poverty and child abuse is denied by most because to admit it is to admit that the current economic system is responsible for what all people recognize as in human barbarity
To admit that poverty causes child abuse is to admit that capitalism causes child abuse, because capitalism always has and always will create and maintain a pool of poor and unemployed people in order to keep wages low.
The third factor that causes child abuse is violence in society. A key theme is violence, violence to body and soul. Though we are all born with a self- protective mechanism, we are not born violent or with a disrespect for human life. What is really happening is that parents are replaying an old scene; what they are doing to their children is a variation on what was done to them. In the name of discipline, they themselves were thrashed, manipulated, lied to and threatened with the loss of parental love. Now they can do the same. Their children, in turn, are helpless and dependent, easy targets for the owner adult who has grown up into a position of power. The stored up hatred and anger of the cruelly treated child becomes parent spills out and engulfs the next generation. .
The forth and the important factor is the Sexual Abuse a child goes through. Although the literature relating to family circumstances in the physical abuse of children is incomplete, it far exceeds the literature relating to circumstances in families in which sexual abuse occurs. It has been suggested that the reason for this lack of information in sexual abuse relates to societal taboos on inquiry into such sensitive subject matter.
