             Polly's background seems to be one that was well off, she lived in a good house and her parents seemed to take good care of her. When she dropped her children to her parent's house, the father worried about her and told her that she needed to look for help. Still she had a rough childhood because she seemed to be overweight and ugly, she took her anger out on her daughter. She shouts at her for eating too much and she tells her that unless she stops eating then no boys will like her and that her future will be spoilt. Also Polly started taking drugs at 13 or 14 and this really start to spoil her early life. Polly also was a writer and she wanted to work on writing a book. She is in her early twenties.
             Polly lived a messed up life that was full of problems and she was never in control. She is a divorced mother with 2 children and her drug abuse led to the divorce. Her friends are all rich and live fancy lives and she wanted to live a similar life. Their lives were like "Hollywood stars" and she was under peer pressure to live a similar life. She used to work articles for magazines and tried to work on a book and after this she started to work as a broadcaster for a radio. This job ended due to her emotional breakdown and her unwillingness to talk about beauty, which again shows her rough childhood and how badly she was treated. She had a very careless and troubled lifestyle. Polly didn't sleep enough and she became intimate with people she didn't even know, she went home with Tony after just meeting him on the beach and this shows the she didn't take enough care of herself. Another example is that she asks people she doesn't know for drugs or a drag of some drug. Also she never takes care of her children and gives them late dinners or rotten food. Her children never had good home cooking; they always had to eat take out. When her children need attention and some advice she would never listen and she would ignore them, they were also treated very badly.
