The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

The pants would tie them together with all the things they experience good or bad. Through out the summer they learn things about themselves, friendship, what the pants do for them, and what is important in their lives.
The protagonists in this book are Bridget, Lena, Tibby, and Carmen. Bridget is the bold, outspoken and out going one she says what is on her mind at the time, gets what she wants when she wants, and isn't shy. She is also very athletic. When Carmen was describing her friend she says " Bridget the athlete - which tells the reader that Bridget is the athletic one in the group. In this, story the author states "Bridget wasn't afraid of strangers. Often she liked them better than people she knew."" this quality helps her meet new people and learn to like them in a different way. Lena is shy, gets embarrassed easily, and does not show her beauty. Everyone tells Lena she is gorgeous but she never believes it. Carmen calls her " Lena the beauty - the quality that Carmen has given her tells us that Lena is very beautiful, or more beautiful than any of her friends. The author shares that "Lena felt ashamed for not speaking Greek."" The quality "ashamed- ties in with embarrassment; this quality may help her get out of things or may have people get the wrong impression about her through out the story. The next Protagonist is Tibby. Tibby does not care what people think about her, and she just does not want to be annoyed or bothered. She only cares about her friends, her hamster, and her family (on a good day). Her friends all call her "Tibby the rebel."" the quality "rebel- makes the reader assume that Tibby is just a normal rebel teenage girl who does not want too many responsibilities to take care of. Tibby being a rebel may give the people she encounters in the book the wrong impression about her, but Tibby being Tibby would not care about what anyone thought about her. Carmen is very outspoken, open, has a bad attitude, and she knows what people think about her.
