Old Growth Forest

To destroy or not to destroy, that is the question at hand in this assignment. There are two distinct sides in this grand battle, there are the people who want this heritage forest destroyed whilst there are the other group who would like to see it kept as part of Tasmanias history.
I think that this forest should be kept as we are already harvesting to much wood, although we are cutting down to sustainable numbers. But this forest is special to our history.
The first that i will discuss is the group that want our old growth forests to be cut down and jsed as timber etc. As i before mentioned there is already enough wood be cut down without starting on this section of our forests. .
The second group are the conservationists, the group who are against this kind of forest being destroyed. They have a good point and should be supported by everyone. We do not need the excess wood as we are starting to build with new materials.
The second this reason this kind of forest shouldn't be destroyed is because it is very old, there are literally 1000's of creatures living in this forest, both great and small. If we were to cut down these forests we would lose a great deal of our native wildlife as a lot of Tasmanian forestry is old growth. This would be very undesirable. Cutting these down would also leave us without a lot of forest as these trees take an extremely long time to mature and becaome the same as the old ones which are hundreds of years old. Because of this animals cannot move back on for an extremely long time.
This is the end of my Report. I hope it shed some light on the subject in question.
