Prefferencial Treatment

Preferential Treatment, Why or Why not?.
College students consist of several different varieties, full-time students, full time workers, part time students, students who are parents and so on. Preferential treatment is not provided to assist any of these different categories, nor should it be provided to athletes. Nowadays a substantial amount of college Athletes are given more leniencies towards the academic standards, which are expected from others. Many colleges are lowering their academic standards in order to recruit new athletes and to maintain their previous athletes eligible to play for the various sports that their schools offer. Providing athletes and soon to be athletes with privileges that are not accessible to other students is corrupt and immoral.
There are many universities around the nation, which are involved, in academic integrity fraud cases. An internal committee has found at least 12 violations of National Collegiate Athletic Association rules at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; who's trustees were publicly rebuked for their sports policies on last month by the state's governor (Lederman 412). There were 12 NCAA violations found in these two colleges alone, and these are not the only colleges that are not playing by the NCAA's rulebook. If we condone this behavior, these students will continue to rely upon their professor's rather than take the initiative to study. These advantages, become disadvantages because these athletes are not becoming educated, which is the sole purpose behind these institutions. Therefore, special treatments towards college athletes are unacceptable.
When 6-foot-9-inch basketball star Kevin Ross played for Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, he didn't even know the score (Charen 420). Literally he wasn't able to interpret the score of the game, all he knew was whether his team was winning or losing. This is an example of how college athletes are neglected their basic education.
