             From the study I have learnt that my perceptions of brightness are affected by background surroundings. The correlation coefficient enforces that there a positive strong relationship between the perception of brightness and background constancy.
             The relationship is causal as there is covariation of the cause and effect, a program is given and I observe the outcome. The plausible alternative explanations I have found ways to deal with them so they can be ruled out. With regards to temporal precedence, a change in background constancy changes the perception of the foreground.
             This experiment is a true experiment because the treatments are randomized. "Successive trials present test and reference circles with randomly assigned backgrounds." (Internet Notes 2002) It is not a quasi experiment as it lacks the main feature, random assignment.
             Looking at my correlation coefficient and in terms of conclusion validity, there is a chance that I have a type l error. I have rejected the Null hypothesis when there is a possibility that it is true. This is a threat to conclusion validity. I may be seeing a relationship when there is not one. There could be other factors that are affecting the way I see the relationship. A fishing and error rate is a threat to my conclusion validity. I conducted 15 analyses treating each one as independent. I didn't do my experiment once I carried it out a number of times until I was happy with the results I got. I then submitted the results. To avoid a type 11 error I would have to use a bigger sample of people, not too big. This way if the hypothesis is false I will be able to see its false.
             If I increase alpha from 0.5 significance level to a 0.10 I am increasing the chances of making a type l error and decreasing the chances of making a type 11 error. I have increased the chances of finding a relationship when there is not.
             In terms of internal validity, there is a causal relationship in the experiment and therefore internal validity is relevant.
