True Heroism

 

            
             Throughout history, there have been many significant figures that have made an amazing impact on their own lives, and others. To the eye and mind of a person, they are considered as heroes because of their influence in life whether they it is directly or indirectly. Heroes and heroines, throughout time, have come from all cultures and backgrounds. Whether they are religious leaders or philosophers, these individuals have demonstrated heroic characteristics while performing their duties. .
             The Islamic prophet Muhammad displayed heroism when he spread a monotheistic religion to the Makkans. An anonymous writer once described the brave Muhammad as "a prophet with a fixed purpose and a man of strong will." While preaching the new religion, Islam, in the area of the Kaabah, Muhammad was attacked for several times. He was threatened and taunted by the wealthy and powerful Makkans who rejected his teaching. Because of his great bravery and faith, they did not hamper him from performing his duties. His chivalrous character can also be seen on the battlefield. During one of the battles, the prophet organized and led few of his devoted followers in to battle against thousands of enemies. When his people took flight, he advanced courageously, alone, toward his rivals. Despite all the cruelty and hostility that he faced, Muhammad remained standing to carry out his duty. It was his brave acts and faith that made him one of the few greatest heroes in the history of time. .
             As a young woman living in the twenty-first century, I've enjoyed many rights and freedoms in every aspects of life. This accomplishment can be traced back in the early A.D. 500s when an ambitious Byzantine Empress named Theodora used her power and influence to improve the social standing of women. Theodora, the beautiful wife of the Emperor Justinian, was considered the earliest individual to fight for women's rights.
