             Lots of people want to lose weight and be healthy. Sometimes if a person is overweight there might be some health problems such as: diabetes, asthma, kidneys and liver complications, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, and more. Many people think that they can simply lose weight by diet pills and drinks, or by surgery. Trying these methods of losing weight could be harmful to a person's body.
             To lose weight, a person has to change what is being eaten. Try to eat less fat and sugar. Fried foods and fatty deserts will probably have a person craving more of it and will not provide the nutrients the body needs. Instead, eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Try not to eat too much of canned fruit or vegetables because, they have a lot of sodium and sugar. Salt helps a person to retain water. When it comes to meat, try decrease the intake of beef, pork, and lamb. Instead increase the intake of poultry, fish and sea food. Make sure that the fish, poultry, or meat is lean and that the skin and fat are trimmed off. Also it has been said that a person should not eat a piece of meat bigger than the palm of his or her hand. For dairy products choose one percent or skim milk and reduced fat cheese. Replace ice-cream with fat-free frozen yogurt, and replace sour cream with fat-free or low-fat plain yogurt. Other helpful tips are to eat only small or single servings of foods high in fat or calories, drink less or no alcohol, eat food with labels that say low, light or reduced, broil, roast or stem food, and to eat plenty of grain products like bread and rice.
             Sometimes by just eating healthier can not help a person to lose weight. There should also be exercise. Exercise and movement helps to build and maintain a person's metabolism. A person's metabolism is what breaks down the food that has been eaten. When a person has a high metabolism, their food is broken down faster and they have more energy, and they are usually small in weight.
