vietnam war

I"m against any war, and Vietnam War is no exception. War is one the drawbacks of human civilization, that consume enormous resources, both human and material, and lead only to destruction. Vietnam is the longest and most controversial war US fought. Defense Secretary Robert McNamara during the Vietnam era admits in his memoirs that Vietnam War was a mistake. "We of the Kennedy and Johnson administration who participated in the decisions on Vietnam acted according to what we thought were the principles and traditions of this nation. We made our decisions in light of those values. Yet we were wrong, terribly wrong. We owe it to future generations to explain why." (McNamara "The Tragedy and lessons of Vietnam" Preface) Many argue now that the Vietnam War was a deadly mistake, and it is my opinion as well. .
History cannot be looked at trough White and Black glasses. There are neither completely wrong nor right decisions, nor does completely "good" or "bad" guys, like in Hollywood movies, ever existed. It is rather consist of different shadow of gray, as it is one of those acts which can be turned into the black from white and back. It is criticized now, but to completely understand decision which led to this war we need look trough the glasses America had on in 1950's. Time can change many things included how humans see world around them. What was common sense in 1930's by 1960's become old fashioned absurd. From current point of view advocated by many people including myself, War was terrible mistake and it cannot be justified. There is always more that one point of view, and after I did some reading about Vietnam War, I became aware that there was some significant reason and very important reason which advocate why US entered this war. .
First American military aid arrived on South Vietnam soil in 1955, just on the rising wake of cold war. Just two years before that several thousands miles from Vietnam, on Korean peninsula bloody Korean War ended with July 27, 1953 cease fire agreement between communist North Korea backed by China and US along with UN.
