If you want a laptop that could also be used for gaming you are looking at a much higher price range of around $2000. A desktop computer on the other hand you can get top of the line everything for around $1700, this would include a DVD burner, a top of the line video card, and a decent monitor. You could also buy a Desktop on which to run basic functions for around $700-$800. The choice of how much money you are looking to spend and what you are going to use it for is once again a big factor in which type you want to chose. .
             A big factor in choosing which type to buy is the life style you lead. People who travel around a lot and need to use a PC on their trips should buy a laptop. A lot of people find it effective to buy a laptop and be able to do some work at home and then bring what they have done on their laptop to the work area.
