This information may not have always been available to me, or I may not have learned it by reading a book. By listening to their ideas or by understanding their beliefs, I have grown personally. I have learned to respect everyone.
Children are a big part of my life. I enjoy being around them as well as teaching them new things. I chose this as one of my strengths based on my home business, a home daycare. The children that come into my home each day are always very happy to be there. My patience and understanding of them, makes them feel at home. It also helps that I can be just as much of a child as they can. .
Weaknesses.
I found it much easier to identify my strengths, than my weaknesses. Admitting to myself that I had weaknesses would be admitting that I needed to change, make my self grow. So I took a positive approach to identifying my weaknesses.
Dr. A.J. Schuler said, "A Negative Attitude will sabotage any success you may seek" (www.schulersolutions.com).
The definition I found for weaknesses is "A feeling that lacks force, power or vigor as it relates to a particular activity." (www.sbishere.com). By following this definition, I feel I have the following weaknesses:.
I miss the big picture, I am not always detail oriented.
I have a difficult time focusing on uninteresting topics.
Writing skills.
Action Plan.
Now that I have identified my weaknesses, it's time to create a plan to improve them. By improving each of the three items listed above, I will improve myself both at work and at school. I decided to begin with the most important to me, being detail oriented.
Being detail would improve my skills significantly. Companies often request that an individual be detail oriented in their ad for employment. So my plan is to make myself write down everything. In Chapter 1 of the Peak Learning text a learning log was introduced. By writing down ideas when I have them, will help be become more detail oriented.
