Diseases of the Male Reproductive System

For example, black men are more likely to have prostate cancer than are men of any other group in the United States. Asian-American men, on the other hand, have the lowest rate of prostate cancer. Also, a high-fat diet may increase the risk of prostate cancer. Researchers theorize that fat increases production of the hormone testosterone, which in turn speeds development of prostate cancer cells. In addition, if your father has prostate cancer, your chance of having it is greater.
Erectile dysfunction is a malfunction which affects the lives of 20 million to 30 million American men and their partners. It is the inability to obtain an adequate erection for sexual activities. ED also covers a range of other disorders such as: Curvature of the penis, premature ejaculation, and a painful erection. Although erectile dysfunction is more common in men over age 65, it can occur at any age. When erectile dysfunction proves to be a pattern or a persistent problem, however, it can harm a man's self-image as well as his sexual life. It can also be a sign of a physical or emotional problem.
Some of the symptoms include: Occasional inability to obtain a full erection, unable to achieve an erection or maintain it. Nonphysical causes of ED are stress, anxiety and fatigue. They also include occasional side effect of psychological problems such as depression or resentment toward your sexual partner. The physical causes include diabetic neuropathy, cardiovascular disorders affecting the blood supply to the pelvis, prescription medications, operations for cancer of the prostate, fractures that injure the spinal cord, multiple sclerosis, hormonal disorders, and alcoholism and other forms of drug abuse.
A wide variety of physical and emotional risk factors can contribute to erectile dysfunction. They are physical disease and disorders, surgery or trauma, medications, substances abuse, and stress, anxiety, or depression.
