Knowledge Gained Through The Magic Mirrors Of Steppenwolf

This complexity of mind gives Harry a new way of viewing himself. He now understands much more about the complexity of his own mind. .
Pablo already knows the complexity of Harry's mind and he tries to open up Harry's mind by teaching him about himself through the Magic Theater. Bu introducing Harry to the Magic Theater, Pablo is able to help Harry to come to terms with his emotional problems and uncertainties. Pablo therefore becomes "the master over Harry's soul." Pablo can reveal to Harry all of the things that he can not figure out about himself. Harry cannot think in terms of the Magic Theater, so first Pablo must teach Harry how to understand how he must think to enter the Theater. .
To accomplish this, Pablo has to teach Harry a few games. In one experience in the Magic Theater Harry sits down to a game of chess with a master chess player. By learning the strategies that the chess master teaches him, Harry is able to understand that he alone can control his life. Pablo also plays mirror games with Harry throughout the novel. Each mirror that Pablo conjures to show Harry adds to the grasp that Harry has on his life and his understanding of what he must do to gain total control over his life.
Just as Harry learns a great amount of information from Pablo's games, he also gains insight through sexual explorations guided by Pablo, Maria and Hermine. Hermine introduces Harry to Maria who will satisfy all of his sensual needs and fantasies. Harry learns more about himself through the experiences that he shares with Maria. He learns to dance and he learns that he has a side of him, not realized before, that wants to experience love and pleasure. Harry also learns the parts of love that hurt from his experience with Pablo and Hermine's love affair. Pablo is the first to introduce Harry to Homosexuality. Harry at first rejects Pablo's offer of a menage-a-trois between he, Pablo and Maria.
